The City of Olympia provides drop box hauling services for recyclable and non-recyclable waste removal within the City limits.

What are Drop Boxes?

Drop boxes are large containers for waste removal that range in size from 10 to 40 cubic yards.

Who Can Get a Drop Box?

Drop boxes are available to businesses, contractors, and residents requiring a large capacity container for one-time or ongoing waste removal within the city limits. Please allow a 2-day turn around for ordering.

When Would I Need a Drop Box?

Typically, drop box containers are needed when you are undertaking a large project, such as:

  • Renovation
  • New construction
  • Demolition
  • Re-roofing
  • Remodeling
  • Storm damage clean-up
  • Clearing a lot
  • Replacing a driveway

What Can I Put in a Drop Box?

You can put most materials except for hazardous waste in a drop box. We can accept mixed loads of construction materials and debris, and we also accept garbage. (Concrete is limited to a 10-yard drop box only.)

How Often Can I Get My Drop Box Emptied?

The number of times we empty your drop box depends on the amount of waste you produce. Each pick-up generates an additional fee.

What Are the Rates?

Drop box rates vary with the size and number of pick-ups. Please note all rates listed are based on a single drop box.

How Can I Save Money?

You can save money by making sure you have the right size drop box, which eliminates the need for extra pickups. When you call to arrange for a drop box container, we can help you assess your needs and recommend an appropriate size for your waste removal project.

You can also reduce your disposal fees by separating materials and recycling them on site. Below is a partial list of examples of recyclable material:

  • Yard waste
  • Untreated/unpainted lumber without nails
  • Glass
  • Cardboard
  • Scrap metal

The size of the container ordered determines how much room is required for delivery and pickup. Be sure to inquire about the necessary length and space considerations when ordering.
