Project Overview: In 2004 the City initiated a project to explore options to improve safety and mobility in the Boulevard Road Corridor. In April, 2006 the Boulevard Road Corridor Study was accepted by the Olympia City Council. This study helps to identify what works well and what needs improvement along the corridor. Public meetings were held and citizen input was taken into consideration when developing alternatives for the corridor.

How will the finished project look?
First Phase: The corridor improvements along Boulevard Road will be constructed in phases. The first phase of the project will be the construction of a roundabout at the intersection at Boulevard Road and Log Cabin Road. This phase of the project is currently being designed. Art Component: The City contracted with artist Steve Jensen to develop public art that will be incorporated into the finished project. Mr. Jensen will work with residents and the community to establish a sense of place for the art component of this project. For more information on Mr. Jensen's work visit his web page.
Funding: The City applied for a grant for State funding for this project. Unfortunately the project was not chosen for grant funding. The City will apply for another grant in August, 2008 and will know the results of that application in December, 2008.
