Bioengineering
Bioengineering
Steep slopes on the site are stabilized with plants and their roots, in conjunction with the log structures. This construction technique is called bioengineering. Unlike concrete and rock walls, bioengineering produces a softer, more natural appearance that changes with the seasons. A bioengineered log crib wall has a strong resemblance to a woven basket. This image was varied throughout the site, both for functional slope stabilization and to support the project's weaving metaphor.
