Public Parking - Parking Meter Debit Cards

Parking meter debit cards provide a coin-free way to use parking meters.  They can be used in any 3- or 9-hour meter.  They can be purchased in $10 increments up to $100.   There is a $2.50 charge for the initial purchase of the parking meter debit card.  Cards are reuseable so be sure to keep the card; you can add additional time.  Purchase you card at the Parking Services office.

How it works:  Before inserting your card push the button for your FREE 16 minutes.  Wait a minute for the free time to register.  Then insert your card;   time is automatically deducted in 25¢ increments.  Remove the card once you reach the time desired.

Purchase additonal time:
Once all of the time on the card has been used, additional time may be purchased and placed on the card at the Parking Services office or at a Parking Meter Debit Card Recharge Machine.

Recharge Machines: Parking Services installed two Parking Meter Debit Card Recharge Machines in downtown Olympia in March.  The new machines will allow customers to add funds to Parking Meter Debit Cards 24 hours a day.

How do I know if my card works in the machine?  Check the number on your card (see photo).  Your card must be 3,500 or HIGHER to work in the machine.

My card doesn't work in the machine; what are my options?  You can turn in your old card at Parking Services for a new card for FREE.  Just be sure to use the entire balance on your existing card first - balances CANNOT be transferred.  Don't have a card?  You can purchase one at Parking Services.

How do the machines work?  Machines take Visa or MasterCard only (no cash).  You can recharge your parking meter debit card in increments of $10.00.

Where are the machines located?  These two, solar-powered machines are located outside of Parking Services at 117 Legion Way, SW, and at the Olympia Center, at 222 Columbia Street, NW.

Will there be more machines installed?  Maybe.  As this is a pilot, Parking Services will be evaluating the machines before ordering more.  More machines will be installed if the program is successful.
