When does a Change of Use occur?

- When the type of business or occupancy group being proposed is different from the previous type of business or occupancy group.
- When a space has remained vacant for more than 12 months. In this case a Change of Use may, or may not, be necessary. Please contact our office.
- A change of ownership shall not be considered a change of use.
Other regulations that impact a Change of Use

- Whenever a Change of Use is requested, the new use of the building or space is determined. The building or space may need to be improved to comply with the regulations of current codes.
- Whenever a Change of Use of any building or space is made a new Certificate of Occupancy must be approved and issued by the Building Official.
- Some changes of use may also require approval of the Site Plan Review Committee (SPRC).
