Program Information/Quick Links:

The Water Conservation Program helps ensure that a sustainable, high-quality water supply will be available for Olympia residents in the near and distant future, and helps protect local freshwater habitats and the fish and wildlife that depend on them.

Why Conserve Indoors?  While the City's water system is built to provide water during the summer's time of high demand, the LOTT (Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, Thurston County) Wastewater Treatment Facility is built to treat wastewater flows which are higher in winter. To address potential capacity issues at the LOTT Wastewater Treatment Facility, Olympia offers several indoor water conservation projects to it's sewer customers.  To learn more about indoor conservation visit our new indoor conservation page

Why Conserve Outdoors?  During the summer, water use in Olympia can double, mostly due to irrigation.  Even though Olympia gets an average of 51 inches of rain each year, we only get about two of those inches in July and August - when we need it most.  This is why conserving water outdoors is very important. To learn more about outdoor conservation, visit our new outdoor conservation page.

Commercial, Government and Institutional Conservation: The City of Olympia works with our Commercial, Industrial, and Governmental customers to help them save water, and money too! We offer several programs, including rebates for water saving technology and commercial irrigation assessments. Visit our commercial conservation page to learn more.
