Conservation - Using Water Wisely

  Quick Links
Did you know?  When you use water wisely, you help:

Future Generations: Given our rainy reputation, it's easy to take water for granted.  Water is a finite resource that we must use with care.  Conservation today helps insure an adequate supply of fresh water for the future.

Our Environment: We share water with fish, plants and wildlife.  Demand is highest during late summer and fall when water is depleted.  Adequate stream and river flows are essential for the survival of many species.  More water in streams also means cleaner water reaches Puget Sound.  We can all reduce demand and allow more water to remain in our waterways for recreation, fish, and to maintain our beautiful Northwest environment.

Our Regional Economy: Olympia's businesses rely on a dependable water supply.  Using water efficiently is the easiest and most economical way to stretch this precious resouce.  Conservation can delay or even avoid the need to develop costly new infrastructure, such as water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Your Pocketbook: Wise use of water means using less water while still enjoying the same benefits.  When you adopt conserving habits and install water efficient devices and appliances in your home, you can reduce your water and energy bills.
