To Sign Up for Service: To sign up for recycling service, call Utility Billing at (360) 753-8368, select option 1.

Apartment Recycling:  Olympia offers recycling to apartments and condominiums (download flyer).  Recycling carts are blue and are usually located near dumpsters. Carts are emptied every other week.   For more information, call (360) 753-8509.

Cart sizes available:  Olympia offers three types of recycling carts for residential customers.  Just mix all recycle together inside one cart—even cardboard! Save money and resources.  Our three sizes include:

  • 32-gallon, for those who don't have much recycle;
  • 64-gallon, our most popular; or
  • 96-gallon, for larger families.

Have more recycle than will fit in your cart?  Spread it out over a couple of weeks, or take it to the Thurston County drop-off site.  Mix it up! Learn what we can and can't take.

Plastics: Is the number important? No, we take all plastic bottles with a neck smaller than the base, as well as all dairy tubs, like butter, cottage cheese, and yogurt.

What You Can Recycle:  Download our printer-friendly residential recycle flyer that shows what you can and can't place in your recycle cart. Also, below is a list of what items can and can't be put in your recycle cart.
