Have you been seeing those black tubes for counting traffic in the bike lanes? They were put here to count bicycle traffic as a part of our new bicycle education and encouragement work.
We have placed them at seven different corridors in Olympia including:
- Boulevard south of 22nd, near 24th
- Cooper Point north of 28th
- Decatur path at bollards
- Eastbay Drive south of San Francisco
- Olympia Woodland Trailhead
- 4th Ave bridge
- 5th Ave bridge
These tubes will count bicycle traffic for each location the first week of the month in June, October, and March. We’ll use the data to see trends in bicycle ridership.
Want to see the data? If you would like to see this data, we will have it available shortly after each count takes place.
Have questions? If you have any questions regarding these bike counts, please contact Kerry Tarullo at (360) 753-8575, publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us.
