Parking Fines:
Below is a list of the five types of parking violations the City issues:
- Meter Violation: Issued when the meter expires.
- Overtime: Issued when you have parked longer than time allows in the parking spot or longer than the established time limit on a parking meter.
- Chain Violation: Second overtime violation at the same space or in the same zone on the same day.
- Restricted Ticket: Issued for parking in illegal areas. Examples include a yellow zone or load zone, parking too close to a crosswalk, facing traffic, or in front of a fire hydrant.
- Disabled Parking: Parking in a disabled parking space without a properly displayed disabled parking permit.

Paying Your Parking Ticket:
There are five convenient ways to pay your parking ticket. Please note, parking fines double if not paid within 30 days.
- Online Service: You can pay your parking citations (tickets) online. Have questions on how it works? Visit our online frequently asked questions page.
- In Person at Our Office: We accept cash, personal checks, money orders, or Visa/MasterCard. We are located at 117 Legion Way, SW, in downtown Olympia - just down the hill from Sylvester Park.
- By Phone: You may make your Visa/MasterCard payment over the phone. Call the Office at (360) 753-8017.
- By Mail: Send your payment in the self-addressed envelope provided with your ticket to: City of Olympia Parking Services P.O. Box 1967, Olympia, WA 98507-1967. (Note: Please do not mail cash!).
- Drop your payment into courtesy boxes located at:
- 8th Avenue and Plum Street, inside the Police Station
- 221 Perry Street, NW, Westside Police Station
- 4th Avenue and Columbia Street, leased/metered parking lot
- 1006 4th Avenue, in front of Crain's Office Supply
- 801 Capitol Way, in front of the Doliver Building (Old Federal Building)
Contesting or Mitigating Your Ticket:
If you believe you were issued a ticket in error or you have mitigating circumstances, you may appeal it by requesting a hearing.
To request a hearing, check the appropriate box on the ticket, sign it, provide a return address and return the ticket to the Parking Services Office. Parking Services staff will set a hearing date and notify you in writing.
