Conservation - High Water Pressure
Reducing the pressure delivered to your home can reduce water use every time you turn on water, particularly when watering lawns and gardens. It can also save water by preventing damage to pipes and fixtures in your home. If you are experiencing higher-than-average water pressure in your home, you can receive rebates for up to 50 percent of the installed cost of a pressure reducing valve at your residence (maximum of $125). Pressure Reducing Valve Rebate Program:
This rebate is only being offered to City of Olympia water customers in areas where water is delivered with a higher-than-average pressure. To qualify for this rebate you must:
- Contact the City of Olympia and schedule a time for City staff to verify that the water pressure is higher than 80 psi. Rebates will not be issued unless City staff verify pressure BEFORE you install your pressure reducing valve. Contact Linda Ayala at (360) 753-8570 for an appointment.
- If staff verifies that your water pressure exceeds 80 psi, the City will notify you that you are eligible to receive a rebate and provide you with a rebate form.
- Contact a qualified plumber, install a pressure reducing valve and set the delivery pressure to approximately 60 psi.
- Send original invoices and receipts to the City along with the signed rebate form.
- The City will re-check the pressure at your home within ten (10) working days, approve your rebate, and send a reimbursement check.
