Construction News - Crestline Sanitary Sewer Pipe Repair

Image of Crestline Sanitary Sewer Repair Project Area

Location:

This project is on Crestline Boulevard just north of Burbank Avenue and finishes on 26th Avenue, just west of French Road.

Project Description:

The sanitary sewer main under Crestline Boulevard was identified as structurally unsound and therefore a high risk for failure and the potential release of raw sewage into the environment. The project repaired approximately 2,500 feet of 8-inch sewer main using a process called Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP).

CIPP is a trenchless rehabilitation method used to repair existing pipelines. A resin-saturated felt tube is pulled through the damaged pipe. In this case the tube was installed through a manhole. It is then heated and expanded making the tube conform to the existing pipe forming a liner. Next, steam is used to cure the resin and form a tight-fitting replacement pipe. This method is repeated from manhole to manhole, until all of the sewer pipe is lined.

Project Completed:

Construction began on November 9, 2009 and is now complete.
