Construction News - Small Diameter Water Main Replacement
Location:
Pipe replacement will occur in several neighborhood areas, as part of this project. Work areas are:
- 5th and 6th Avenue by Sherman Street, see map
- 10th and 11th Court by Rogers Street, see map
- 5th Avenue and Legion Way by Fir Street, see map
- Hewitt Lake Drive near Yelm Highway, see map
Schedule:
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, September 14, 2009 and continue through November 2009.
Project Impacts:
Construction will mostly occur off the road, on the shoulder, thus only minor traffic impacts are expected. As new pipes are connected, there may be short periods of water service disruptions. Homeowners will receive prior notification of any service disruptions.
Description:
The City's annual program replaces small diameter water pipes that are prone to leaks, have a high frequency of repairs and cause water outages. The project will improve water pressure, flow and reliability of water supply to several neighborhoods in Olympia. Constructing this project will save the City money by reducing the amount of time and materials crews spend on repairing leaks and will also conserve water lost through pipe leakage.
