West Bay Drive Structure Fire

Olympia Fire Department responded to a garage fire at 4th Avenue West and West Bay Drive at 9:27 p.m. Sunday evening. The first unit arrived at 9:32 to find smoke and fire in the garage, the bottom floor of as 2 story structure. The fire was confined to the garage and extinguished at 9:51. Firefighters checked for extension in other parts of the building but no extension was found.
Seventeen firefighters from Olympia on 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 medic units, and a command unit along with personnel from Tumwater and Thurston County Fire District 9 responded. There were no injuries to firefighters, or bystanders. The building was still under construction, there were no residents yet, but the owners arrived shortly after the fire was reported. The 2500 square foot structure sustained approximately $50,000 in damages from fire in the garage and smoke in other parts of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
