Are you prepared?
Whether natural or human-caused, disasters and emergencies can happen without warning. The services and businesses you rely on may be delayed or unavailable for up to 72 hours (3 days) or even longer during and after a major event.
Do you have enough water, food, clothing, and health supplies to be self-sufficient? What about your neighbors?
Families may be separated with parents at work and children at school. How will you communicate? Where will you meet? How will out-of-the-area family and friends reach you?
If you need to immediately evacuate the area, where will you go? How will you get there? Do you have access to emergency cash if your bank is closed and ATMs are not functioning?
The City of Olympia urges you to BE READY BEFORE AN EMERGENCY STRIKES.
Information about disaster planning, including a check list of supplies to have on hand, is available on the American Red Cross website. (Emergencias - Cruz Rojo Americana - Español).
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website has a Get Ready, Get Set disaster preparedness section for children.
Community Preparation (C-Prep) training is offered by the Olympia Fire Department for City of Olympia neighborhoods. Call 360-753-8348 for information.
